Well, I put out the storm just to have a look at it. I had already decided with the competition to make MM with CC this one comes with a serious opportunity cost, so it just didn't sound very good or all that well thought out.
I was utterly unimpressed with it. So, I used a pet food just to see what it did, and that 55% means that MM will be 55% instead of 50%, not a 55% increase of some kind and then the pet food only lasts 3.5 hours. This thing is really bad.
Think about it, it takes 2 CC to make a pet food, which has an opportunity cost of the time it would take to make 1.5 MM. (My MA is level 5 so CC takes 6 hours and MM takes 8 hours. 2 CC to make a petfood, which is 12 hours of the magic academy and I could make 1.5 MM instead.)
With 3.5 hours, you could get in two collections by resetting the manufacturers to 3 hours and making sure you are around in 3 hours. Seriously, they could have made the pet food 5.5 hour and you still only get 2 collections, but it would give more flexibility. People that can collect at lunch probably have closer to 4 hours between collections so they aren't going to be able to use a 9 hour overnight collection and then a lunchtime one.
So, if you get 10 chests per week you get 11 MM from the tournament per week.
In a week you can make 28 CC with a level 5 magic academy, which would could make 14 pet food, but you'd never use them because you only have 11 MM from the tournament.
So, if you did half for making petfood and half for making MM, you would get 14 CC to make 7 pet food and you would get 10.5 MM. So say 21 MM which would be 3 per day to use, with the one pet food.
An MM goes 13 hours and with perfect collection, there is an opportunity to collect at time 0, 3, 6, 9, and 12 hours, so 5 collections. The petfood will only boost the MM for 2 of those collections. So a simplified way of looking at it is that the value of the special effect is 2/5 is 40%. So at level 1 the special effect is that the MM gives an extra 5% for 2 collections, making the MM effectively 52% over the entire use of the MM for level 1.
For level 10 the MM is 100%, which is double. So 40% of the extra 50% is 20% so the MM is effectively 70% over its entire use.
So, the opportunity cost of making one pet food is 1.5 MM. That means your break even for the opportunity cost is 3.75 MM, (50% x 1.5 /0.2).
Just looking at this, the best way to get the most would be to do as many MM at a time, as in do all of your manufacturers. So, if you have 4-5 of each manufacturer, you could do the special effect on them about 2 times per week (4 CC for pet food, 18 + 11 = 29 MM). Looking at this, it really makes sense that if you do an MM round, you should do the pet food for the second half of the MM, so 8 CC for pet food leaving 15 + 11 = 26 MM. So by using 2 pet food the MM is effectively 90% over its use.
80% of 26 is 20.8. So if you did nothing but MM and CC for pet food with your MA and get 10 chests in the tournament, a level 10 storm would be like having an extra 21 MM per week. I guess each extra level the special effect works out to the about the benefit of an extra 2 MM.
