What is Training Speed?

I have always been puzzled by this - and when I asked Support, they did not know either.
Eventually one of the Moderators explained it to me:
It is a mathematical relation based on the 12 minutes that it takes to train a basic unit in a level one Barracks - so in practice, the number means how many units you can train in 12 minutes, in each level.

I try to always keep my training time to around 9-10 hours in a fully loaded barracks so that it runs while I'm at work or sleeping.
To help with that I have created a calculator that figures it all out for you.

I had found out that the value was related to a 12 minute training time, but I did not know where it came from (and I did not remember either that it took 12 minutes to train 1 unit in level 1 barracks !)

training speed 100 just means you can train 100 units in the same time you would train 1 unit on training speed 1.
Doesn't seem like rocket science to me

the 12 minutes you mention is just confusing, not all units have a base training time of 12 mins, some have more then an hour.

so helpful, I was looking around for what increase the training speed did. Makes it so easy to base it on that formula. Why it is not elsewhere.
