Hi Elevenar - salute should definitely not be capitalised here, and we will get that reported. However it's likely that with this being the tavern, mead was intended - mead is an alcoholic beverage made with honey, which could indeed be sold at the tavern. We'll get that checked out too, to be certain :)

Oh, you meant honey wine with "mead" ... perhaps.

Eh, no! - "hunting deer" sounds more like barbecue, and MEAT ;)

Mead would be correct. He was off hunting and got thirsty and hungry and stopped in at the tavern for some mead and bread. :)

I second @Bobbykitty 's explanation
we seldom see people hunting deer and bringing the meat to the Inn ...
or maybe he was unlucky and had to resort to tavern food :)

I did not think about "mead", nor did I know the english word of it. That's why I reported it as bug.

Besides, mead and bread - I had both of them separately already in real life, wearing a Santa Claus costume, surrounded by still alive and lots of meat - does not really fit ;)

Bobbykitty and Philplessis are correct - we've checked this and 'mead' is definitely the intended word here, so it's 'mead and bread', or in other words 'drink and food' - a simple meal. The capitalisation issue should be corrected soon.
