Current situation:
Quoting some others since I already did my first round:
1 Treant normally counts as 6x the size of a light melee/ranged unit (Sword Dancer/Axe Barbarian or Archer/Crossbowman).
So to make this fight a fair one my squad size must be at least 6 against a treant, not 2 as it was now.
Instead of making fights easier for newbie players Inno increased the difficulty by ~300% !
Expected situation:
In round 1 the difficulty should be 12,6%, not ~300%. With a base size of 6 light melee/range against 1 treant my squad size should actually be 45~50 to make this a fight with a 12,6% difficulty factor.

Hi all, I joined beta today because of the tournament changes. Obviously I only have one province to play with. This was my result:
My squad size was 2, enemy’s was just 1. Somehow I fail to understand how this tournament rebalance is supposed to make the entry easier for small/new players. If I were new and if I had such cruel first experience, it certainly wouldn’t help with getting me hooked to the game.
From my point of view this change hits us, mobile players, too hard. I’m not against one encounter per province. I’ve got problem with the terrain lottery which I have no way to influence or at least identify.
As for the difficulty: I’ve got no feedback there. Not enough data in such a small city.
I think I know why it resulted in a loss... The enemy has in this fight units that are counting 2-6 squad size per unit. So with a squad size of 1 these enemies should be <1/2 units, which is rounded to 1. Therefore the enemy is playing with squad size of 2-6 instead oc 1. Before, squad sizes couldn't go below 6 to prevent this issue.
