Simple idea, I think it makes sense that we would be able to rotate buildings :)

I like the idea of it, but it also poses some problems. For example, the developers would have to create 2 (or 4) views for every building, or at least the buildings without perfect-square constructions. I believe the current static system provides another level of complexity in city design layouts, since you cant simply shoehorn a building into a slot.

Not possible. As I remember from this video
these buildings haven't full 3d view, so this is a reason why you can't rotate them.

Yeah, that was the subject I touched on. They would have to remake the graphics from scratch for every rotation.

The graphics aren't the problem - they could just mirror the building sprites/animations, for the most part. But allowing rotation would take away some of the individuality of the buildings, and part of the challenge in city design is making the pieces you're given fit. I'd be against it; I would rather have the challenge.

Mirroring wouldn't work either. As said in the video the shadows are rendered on the picture, it's not rendered individually. If they mirror the images it would look like there are two Suns on the sky, because of two types of shadow. And only one Sun for one building.

And also, I don't really like the concept of rotatable buildings, I just like the challenge of puzzleing the city.

On the topic of the puzzle - it seems very intentional. For example, for humans blue flowers are 1x3 tiles (cultural building) while red flowers are 3x1

Yes, I think this is intentional as well. Fit everything like a nice and neat puzzle. And besides, so far I haven't had trouble with not enough room. (More with getting enough resources :p)

It's most likely intentional...Just like in FoE, especially in the later game you gotta plan your cities well for the most perfect layout that suits your needs :) Just a little bit of extra fun to a good game!

I can only guess that as well as FoE it won't be possible to rotate. We will see tho :)

I actually prefer non-rotatable buildings. I enjoy the city building challenge. :)
