Has anyone been able to crack this down yet?

I can confirm the tool tip above, but I haven't been able to figure out the exact formula (as in, what working population is required for 1 ranking point and how many ranking points does solving an encounter provide?), if you have any insight do share. Thanks. :)

Based on a little playing around, I think points are as follows:
1 point for each population used
1 point for each culture used
1 point for each hex distant an encounter is for each encounter solved (negotiated or won battle)

Thanks shmike!

I just upgraded a building which required 2 population but I got 4 ranking points and for a moment there was confused, but now that I read your comment it hit me that this also uses culture so that's why it's 4 ranking points instead of 2.

The formula, shmike gives us is right, but it cannot be all. Since the numbers of population and culture used is given, I calculated my amount of encounters with the hex distant with following result: with 1669 ranking points there is a "lack" of 6o points I dont know, where they come from. In detail:
763 points of population used
626 points of culture used
220 points of encounters
________
1609 points instead of shown 1669 points in ranking list

ergo: who is first to explain the source of the other points?!

1325 pop used
1367 culture
2692 encounters
total 3616
but 3624 ranking

the remainings points are for charisma. I only have 8 points of charisma, but you realy are a charismatic person, Florarbor, so you have 60.

Where can i see the number of encounters? Am i blind? Or must i add the kp?

You can easily see the completed provinces in the buildings menu viewing the expansions with mouseover. Then you have to add the open provinces with 1 or more encounters done. But the problem is counting the hexfields. I trust in Inno's math and take the points that are given ;)

I don't know, what charisma is and where I can find it (in this gam:ewink:) but I have a new suggestion to the formula:
1 point for each population used
1 point for each culture used
1 point*hex distant for each encounter
extra points for your cultural bonus:
12? extra points for cultural bonus of 120 % (not affirmated)
24 extra points for cultural bonus of 140 % (affirmated)
42 extra points for cultural bonus of 170 % (not affirmated)
60 extra points for cultural bonus of 200 % (affirmated)
with this formula you would get 6 extra points for 10% cultural bonus (which is only available in 5 levels)

not affirmated = I could not prove this for my own
affirmated = I could prove this for my own

With this new suggestion we would have the complete formula for the ranking points but it has to be prooved:
if any of you could falsify it, we would have to correct this formula or to reject it finally
if the extra points for the other cultural boni level could verified by someone it could be helpful to proove the suggestion

Best regards, Florarbor

1464 for pop
1524 for culture
988 for encounter
total 3986
official ranking 3986

the first time I juste missed a 1 distance province (so 8pts)
So the result is right, without your cultural bonus (I always have 200%). If you were right, I would have 4046pts.
