Hello there,

we can imagine that you probably have lots of questions regarding the mysterious world of Elvenar. That’s why we decided to interview the game’s Product Manager Stefan. He has accompanied Elvenar from the very beginning, so who could be more suitable to answer some central questions about the game?

Get back to us in two weeks, we’ll have more exclusive information on Elvenar. And now let’s move straight ahead to the interview!

1. Can you give us a quick description of the game?

Of course I can, here you go: Elvenar is a beautiful city-building game set in a fantasy setting. By choosing elves or humans you will decide how your city will look like, what units you are going to fight with and where your focus in production lies. In Elvenar you are part of a huge community that is living side-by-side in the same world. If you check out the world map you can see all your neighbors, regions you can discover and look out for the next challenge. So in Elvenar you can create your own flourishing city in the way you want to, set up in a mystical and colorful world.

2. What can players expect from it?

A lot! The moment you join the game you will see how much love and detail we put into it. This is not only visible, but also you feel it in every feature we designed. We wanted to make the game as beautiful and understandable as possible and we feel like we reached that goal.

3. How do the elves differ from the humans?

Elves and humans are quite different. Though they are living in the same world, they have a totally different understanding of how to build up structures and that is reflected in the design of the buildings. Humans are living the scientific style, which is reflected in their buildings. Elves are living in harmony with nature; therefore their military forces are for example supported by stone-golems or ents. They don’t differ in the resources they are using, as the races are supposed to trade with each other, but they do have some specific strengths here and there.

4. How will choosing a specific race (elves or humans) affect the player’s gaming experience?

As mentioned above it is a lot about your appearance and how your city should look like. If you prefer a more fantastic close-to-nature design, you go with the elves, if you prefer medieval building style you focus on humans. And of course the types of buildings and military units they have at their disposal differ.

5. What do you play as and why?

I am more the human-type of player. Why? Coz I like hellhounds and axe men on the battlefield, crushing down my enemies. :)
Also since I was young I’ve been loving castles and medieval buildings. In Elvenar I find exactly those structures and I have the chance to build my own city in that style! This just makes me happy!

6. What’s the role of the multiplayer map?

Elvenars world-map supports your adventures. It offers you tons of places for your armies to fight or for your trades to invest your precious goods. Why you should do that? Well, only by scouting the world and securing precious relics you make sure your economy grows properly, so you can expand your city! Also it gives you the chance to find trading partners, check out your neighbors’ cities and start interacting with them, like helping out to build up the city.

7. Can you tell us more about the strategic battles?

Elvenar offers you 3D battles on a hexagon-battlefield containing several obstacles that are lying between you and your enemy. But this is not all: your units have several strengths but also weaknesses. While your hellhounds crush the enemy archer-formation, they will be slaughtered if several melee-fighters are thrown in the mix. The good thing is: You get a glance at your opponents before you go into war! This allows you to always arrange your troops according to the defenders.

8. I know there are a lot of monsters in this new world, do you have a favorite one?

To me the Orcs are the most astonishing ones. This greenish fellows lurking in several areas are really hard to come by. One can really feel that fighting lies in their veins.

9. So far, what’s your favorite aspect of the game?

Well, that’s not easy but I will give you the following answer: Having so many possible areas and ways where we can expand the game. Being set in a fantasy-environment allows us to bring a lot of amazing content to Elvenar, and I assure you, we will!

10. When can we start playing?

The Closed Beta is scheduled for January 2015. So keep your eyes open and sign up in order to get one of the precious beta-keys!
