Text Constructs quest - dearth?

In the constructs chapter quest 'The origin of prejudice - The remaining elvenar had a tough life' it states:
"Robbed of their wealth, the culture and their dignity, the survivors lived a desolate existence. The war was over, and the threat of the Amuni seemed over. But misery, distress, and dearth were spreading. [...]"

Not sure if this is a typo, or just really bad grammar. 'Dearth' means scarcity of something, and is synonymous with the word 'lack', and it can't really be used on its own. It's always 'dearth of ___'. It should really be written as something like 'dearth of resources' or replaced with a word like 'famine' or 'poverty'. Alternatively it might be a typo, in which case it's probably meant to be 'death'.
