Fixed [7725] World Map not loading

Not necessary... They could fix it on developer server. However this is also too fast move. Bug should be marked as "fixed" after it is tested here and its non-existence is confirmed.

Well, I didn't have freezes anymore like before, but now I got this.
I have visited the fellows of the BS, which went well. Then navigated to city on teh worldmap, with the menu thing. Wanted to start in the south west and got this. So not all is fixed. By the way: I have turned the HA on, a few days ago. Before it was impossible to play with the HA on so there is some progress.

With the hotfix that was just rolled out we also added improvements to the way the World Map is loaded - please let us know if the issue of the loading of the World Map getting stuck still occurs now.

No change here ... ich you wanna go from one neighbor to the other, map loading freezes at ~80% ... so we continue to use the 'workaround' to prevent page reload ...

i got this a few min ago takes longer to load world map when it does i get this to the right was just the left of my city now its all over.

world map now total fubar names disappear map freezes.... click on discovered sector map freezes so you cant battle or negotiate i'm really upset about this because i used diamonds to speed up scout and now i cant even get relics because that sector wont load :( in the "quest" to nerf quests it really screwed the game up. crystal lighthouse i have is useless cant do anything outside of your city, i guess mission accomplished as far as slowing players progress...aka make game un-playable

Today I get the frozen screen with the partly completed loading bar when moving from a fellowship member's city to the world map. My impression is that it is worse for those cities that are furthest away from me. That is , I can go to the map from a nearby city but not from one that is far away.

I've used the Windows task manager to better understand how much memory was used by the different views of Elvenar, and then compare with another similar game which also has a city view and a world map. I'm not going to give you the numbers, it's boring, but only information about the variations of these numbers.

First, hardware acceleration is not to be spoken about, it only saves a small amount of memory, but doesn't change the main thing.

The main thing is that the world map is a memory hog. The world map is graphically much simpler than the city view, so I expected it to use less memory. This is true with another game (-20%), but in Elvenar it uses more (+30%) which I can't understand since there are less image components, no animation, and the pattern is repetitive, so how come ?

Besides that, I also noticed that memory consomption increases over time, either by switching between views, or just by waiting, but I must say this also happens with the other game, so I wouldn't concentrate on that first, even if it's not normal.

In my opinion, the world-map-not-loading problem may be related to an abnormal memory usage that has to be understood first.
Please understand that I'm not a specialist, I just think what I observe should make sense.

Hi, why do maps on FOE work on all servers (3) well and maps on Elvenar don't?
Playing beta and en server, both having the same problems as pointed out in all post!
Is Elvenar not the same as FOE? Don't the Devs all work in Hamburg, Friedrichstr.?
Just a silly question..:)
 
While Forge of Empires and Elvenar both are creations of InnoGames, the two games are not the same (and are not being worked on by the same team). One of the key differences is the way the World Map functions. :)

Well, you could also say that the "key difference" is, that their world map is working properly and ours isn't. ;)
 
That is one way of looking at it, yet it is not what I meant. Either way, let's try to stay a bit closer to the topic here instead of starting a comparison between Forge and Elvenar. :)

Ok , got the message about the comparison! However it sounds like an excuse to me!
Same office, 2 teams ( or whatever ). Somethings not working for one team: Get a
round table, sit them all around it and work things out together!! OOHH, forget
to give everybody a beer or wine or whatever!!..;):)
By the way my map is sort of looking empty of players removed or not playing!
Could it be that a load of people not playing because of all those problems?
Hopefully things get sorted soon, I'll hang in there in the hope it will happen!

The stuck loading going back to the province is really really annoying.
I thought it might be random when it happens, because i'm experiencing it sometimes and sometimes not, but now after I tried to do a province yesterday and today and it happend both times I'm not so sure anymore. Maybe depending on province? I will try to keep track of it, but with so long scouting times it is not so easy.
So far it happend in the current province: Ring 11, Silk, south of my city

And like I said it is really annoying:
- load world map
- go to province
- load province
- sent a squad swords in an encounter to scout and plan troop deployment
- surrender
- go back to province NOT, because stuck
- reload game
- load world map
- go to province
- load province
- start the previously "scouted" encounter
- surrender, because you saw an improvement of the deployment
- go back to province NOT, because stuck
- reload game
- load world map
- go to province
- load province
- start the previously "scouted" encounter and win it
- go back to province NOT, because stuck
- reload game
- load world map
- go to province
- load province

This is the worst case that can happen to do just ONE! encounter.... :eek::mad:
 
We have made improvements to the World Map and after that we were no longer able to reproduce the issues as described in this thread, even on accounts on which we could previously reproduce it consistently. Could you please let us know if these problems are solved for you as well now? :)
 
Since we have not received any new reports about this issue since the update, we will now move this to the 'Fixed issues' section of the forum.
