As fas as I read the problem:
You don't get points from clearing the dust but for picking the Tombstones up.
What you don't pick up, you don't collect.
It is the same as seeing a €20,- note on the ground, as long as you don't pick it up, you don't have it.

The 266 points shown is the amount of event currency you have from completing event quests, daily event gifts, and collecting the donkeys around your city. You use that currency to purchase shovels etc to clear the sand. The points you need to watch are at the bottom of your screen, the 18/20. Those are earned by collecting tablets found in the sand. Every 20 tablets you get to claim a prize.
